Matisyahu Brings Reggae Sounds to the City Winery in Atlanta

Singer-songwriter Matisyahu has been on journey inward for more than a decade. Now nearly thirteen years after the release of his first studio record, Matisyahu and his band have done something unmatched in his past repertoire; they have crafted that journey into a musically thematic eight song movement. Don’t miss your chance to witness this movement during Matisyahu’s performance at City Winery on August 28th.

Known for blending Orthodox Jewish themes with reggae, rock, and hip hop beatboxing sounds, Matisyahu maintains an important presence in the reggae fusion scene. Since 2004, Matisyahu has released five studio albums as well as two live albums, two remix CDs and two DVDs featuring live concerts. His 2005 single "King Without a Crown" was a Top 40 hit in the United States.

Matisyahu has come a long way since the release of his breakout album Live at Stubbs in 2005. He has pushed himself dynamically and creatively, breaking with expectation at every turn and remaking his musical image with nearly every album. His latest release, Undercurrent, is a fully realized concept album crafted by a band-of-brothers who have learned to hold a conversation that is both comforting and challenging at the same time. Matisyahu and his band have achieved a retelling of the musician’s story that explores the forces within that inspire us all, challenge us all, break us down, lift us up, and yet are rarely obvious to the outside observer.

Matisyahu will perform at City Winery in Atlanta on Tuesday, August 28th. Tickets start at $40 and may be purchased online. Audience members may enjoy the finest wines, both bottled and on-tap, while enjoying the show.
